Turkey Trot: Through My iPhone

 

My absolute favorite Thanksgiving day tradition is the annual Utah Human Race Turkey Trot. It's for a great cause, (Utah food bank) and like always, my family had a blast. I ran the 10K with Tay and Drew and everyone else ran the 5K. As we were about to finish Tay decided a 10K was not long enough so he took another 3 mile lap, crazy I know! I somehow managed to take third place in my age division. It made me feel a little bit better about the huge brunch and huge thanksgiving day feast I had! 

Also, I have been getting so many questions and emails about what to wear for cold weather running so I will let you all in on my must have picks.

4. Technical running gloves 

5. Ear warmer

And... my favorite shoe right now is the Saucony Progrid Kinvara 3. I change shoes about every 2 months but these ones have been great!

winter whites + hot chocolate recipe

The holidays are officially upon us and I can't wait to start decorating my house for the holidays . I am loving the creamy/wintery whites and neutrals for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. They are just gorgeous and keep the spirit light! Also I have a yummy hot chocolate recipe for you try. My family always makes this thanksgiving and christmas morning. Enjoy! 

Homemade Hot Chocolate...

3 1/2 cups sugar

2 1/4 cups cocoa

1 tablespoon table salt

whole milk for serving

whip cream

cinnamon

In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Pour one cup whole milk in mug and microwave on high until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of mixture, stir and dissolve. For a larger batch warm the milk in saucepan set over medium-low heat. As it warms stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk. Add whip cream and cinnamon.

This weekend we went to the Lighting of The Riverwoods with some of our cute friends. The night started perfect, hot Chocolate, complimentary cinnamon rolls. horse-carriage rides, bon fires, etc... Well that all ended when the babies met Santa. It was not a happy moment but I am so glad that we have pictures to remember this! We are all hoping that next year will be Santa's year... 

Mom's Best- Holiday Event...

I am so honored that I was invited to the Mom's Best Network holiday event. This event was held to review new hot products for Mom's and to help raise awareness and money for The Children's Justice Center. It was so great to meet other bloggers and help out this amazing cause. 

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me to take any pictures at the event but it was beautiful and so much fun!

I woke up Saturday morning to a find wintery wonderland and was so excited to get my little snow bunny all bundled up and ready to play outside. I was sure she was going to be in heaven- I was wrong. Capri was absolutely terrified of all the snow. I got her to stay outside for all of two minutes before Papa came to her rescue. I think I traumatized her because she didn't want me for the rest of the day, she just wanted to snuggle Grammie and Papa by the fire. Such a funny little girl. I guess we will try again this week?!

snow canyon half marathon...

      This is my absolute favorite race!  I am so happy that my knee held up and I was ok to run it. I got my best time yet at 1:44, spent time with family and friends, and just had an overall blast! We are already planning for next years Snow Canyon half.  I have to throw in here too, that my husband also got his PR at 1:34. He is speedy fast! My goal is to keep up with him next time.
