The Park + Giveaway Winner...

Last night we had a random little mid-week date. I love these surprise dates so much! We went to dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants, Guru's and then took Capri to the park to play. It's safe to say this girls new favorite thing is the swing set. I have never seen her laugh so hard. It was such a great night!

Homecoming Dance...

Megan had Homecoming this weekend and she looked absolutely beautiful. Isn't her dress to die for! Rachel did an amazing job of styling her. It was so much fun to see Megan and her date, Kolton leave for the dance. They couldn't have been any cuter!

Celebration of life...

Tay's sweet 91-year-old Grandma Hansen passed away last week so we had her funeral yesterday. It was a celebration of her life. I didn't know her very well but every time I talked to her she was the nicest, sweetest person. 

It was so great to be together with Tay's family for the day. I love my In-laws so much and am so grateful for their example! 

Red Mango...

Our sweetest girl has been feeling a little under the weather the past few days, so Tay thought of the perfect thing to perk her up... Red Mango! This girl LOVES it. Can you tell by her face? It's just what the doctor ordered.

A Day at The Park...

I cherish everyday that Capri still needs to hold onto my finger as she walks... I know that any day now she will be off and walking on her own. I just love this stage that she is in. We have been going to the park and I am getting so sad that these warm nights are coming to an end as we transition into fall.

Sugar Cookies in a Pan...

I would definitely not call myself domestic, but occasionally I do like to whip up treats for Capri and Taylor. These have been such a hit and I keep craving them so I decided to share this easy but delicious recipe. 

1 ½ cups sugar

1 cup butter, softened

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 egg

1 teaspoon almond extract

½ teaspoon vanilla

½ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

2 ½ cups flour

Cream butter, cream cheese and sugar. Add egg, almond extract and vanilla, blend until smooth. Mix in all of the dry ingredients. Grease a pan with cooking spray. Spread the dough into the pan with a long knife. Sprinkle some flour on the dough, so it is easier to spread.  Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Cook just until golden brown.

Let cool completely.

Frosting:

1/2 cup butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
splash of milk

Weekend fun...

 

To say we love our weekends in this family would be an understatement, we count down to Friday starting on Sunday night.  We love getting dressed up, having Dad take us on a date, or hanging out with family and friends.  

This weekend we decided to do one of our favorite things, or should I say Capri's favorite thing. Get pizza at Malawis, walk around the shops at The Riverwoods and play in the fountains. There was even a farmers market where Papa, of course, spoiled his favorite girl with lots of yummy treats! 

It was another great weekend with my favorite people in the world. 

And now we are back to Monday... Tay is back to school while I keep myself busy with gym classes, half-marathon training,  cleaning, play groups, helping with a baby shower, family pictures and most importantly playing with my girl and teaching her to walk...:) We will see how that goes.

Fashion's day out...

My cousin Katie and I recently took a stroll down memory lane with a shopping trip to Nordstrom.  Growing up, our grandma loved taking all of us grandchildren out shopping to look for the best deals and clothes for us.  That tradition ended some time ago, but it was fun to relive what was once such a fun time.

Chalk...

With summer coming to an end Capri and I are doing everything we can to be outside and soak in the sun. This week called for sidewalk chalk. Capri loves to scribble and play around with the chalk and I like to draw her pictures. It's a win/win for both of us!

Park City...

Saturday night we headed up to Park City to stroll Main Street and eat at a new favorite,  Zoom. It was a fun evening full of polka dots, pink and cheetah (unplanned).
